Good-bye Salt Lake

This past Sunday at 8 p.m. we finally rolled out of our driveway. All of our Salt Lake belongings, 3 bikes, and our skis were packed into this little roadster.
...Not sure why we're smiling about leaving. I think that's just what we do in front of a camera.

Somewhere in Nebraska

Along our journey, we created sheet tents to stay out of the sun and stay cool.
Here's our friend, Aash. We visited Aash and Rebecca in Iowa after our day in Denver with my friend, Kristine. Tragically, we don't have any pictures of Kristine. Sorry, I know, you're missing out....shoulda been there, I guess.

Home Sweet Temporary Home

We'll be in this crib for a short bit. If you like muggy hot weather, traffic, and not much to do, please visit. If you don't, please invite us to come visit you.

Good-bye Docs

Last night we had a going away party at Log Haven. Just one year ago we were at the same location for the welcome party...nervous and trying to look good. It had a whole different feel last night! Each resident was "saluted" by the class for something they'll be remembered for. Joel was saluted for always being ready to have a good time, bringing his kickball to most parties, and being a kid at heart. (I think they've captured him well)

Walking On

"This is what the LORD says: 'Stand at the Crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths, ask where the Good Way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." Jer. 6:16

Joel and I did a really tough hike yesterday on his last day off of this year. Most of the time we talked about leaving Utah and what it will be like for us to say good-bye to the beauty and adventures of this place. Though it is a loss to be sure, we're hopeful that everything beautiful and fun we've experienced here is really a glimpse of our life in Christ--which can never be lost. So at this crossroads, we're asking God to lead us in the ancient paths of faith, in the Good Way--and that we'll be willing to walk in it.

We sold our Rodeo so we're back to one car. I drive Joel to work at 5:30a.m. and then go for a walk while I watch the sun rise over the mountains. It is so beautiful I wish I had done this all year!
Tuesday we had a BBQ at our house during a rain storm. The rainbow was a nice touch though.
Trevor and Joel like picking cherries so much that they decided they're going to moonlight next year in this specialty.

Tucker and Judy go to a Partay!

We went to a going away "White Trash Bash" held for us and Peter and Kelly (a.k.a. Hank and Peggy). I personally invested about two weeks growing facial hair for this occasion. (All characters are solely our imagination. Any resemblance to characters real or fictitious is coincidental.)
Our nabes were kind enough to leave a potty in their driveway fer us to take a picture with.
Tucker and Hank on the front porch of the double wide.
Ma and Pa woulda been so proud.
Here's one for the fridge, y'all.
Continuing the weekend's theme, we went to an airshow today at Hill Air Force Base. This was the 50th anniversary of the Thunderbirds.
Showing their feminine side...

We've got a new family living with us now. We make them sleep outside by our hot tub.

Lake Blanche

Amanda and her friend, Heather, invited me on their hike to Lake Blanche. (and no, Heather is not an invisible friend...she's taking the picture)

Good-bye Jennie and Carter

The going away parties have already begun. On Friday we had a picnic with our friends, Mike and Jennie, since Jennie is leaving on Monday to start up their new home in Boston. We got in a good game of kick ball before the end of the night.

The hiking season is back!

On Friday, Joel and I hiked to Desolation Lake and then up along this Crestline Trail. Right after we took this picture the trail disappeared under snow so it became a bit challenging for awhile.
I did not escape from this experience wholly unscathed. Joel, on the other hand, is a mountain man now and can practically leap streams and such. You should ask him sometime about his "snow-gliding" skills. I, for one, was impressed. (which I should be since I'm the one walking around with a mud-butt).
