We had our first date as sophomores in high school. We don't have a picture from that day (how should we have known we should take a picture?), but we have these oldies from a while later at our junior and senior year prom.Shontel picked me up because I was 15 and didn't have my license yet. We saw Pelican Brief (hold the phone....Shontel wants to say that after much deliberation, she wore black jeans and a checkered black shirt. Joel wore skin tight black leather pants and a T-shirt with a monkey on it...just kidding. I don't have a T-shirt with a monkey on it. Shontel says that if I did have such a shirt back then I would still have it and wear it often.)
Anyway, we went to the movie and couldn't think of anything else to do (sweet planning on my part). So we went to the deli area of Meijer (for our international readers, this is a regional superstore). It was late-ish and the pickin's was slim. I ate lasagna pizza (I have no idea who came up with this stupid idea). It had lasagna-type cheeses (I think it was probably ricotta or something) and sausage. Shontel played the part perfectly and said "Oh, no. I am much too full." (read: what did someone do on top of that pizza?)
Over the barf-pizza, we had an extensive demographic discussion about our families of origin--all sorts of vital statistics--and other such factual things.
We used to listen to Chicago back in those days because Shontel had a sweet mix tape.
We can't remember anything else. Well, it was half a lifetime ago...
